Pride

The years of service that I have been able to provide to tenants, subcontractors, prime contractors, and, my current employer. 30 years of service, in the same field. I have been referred as a General Motors employee in construction there's just not a lot of, people out there that can say they've worked at a construction company or for 30, 40 years today. I really pride myself in my commitment. I believe that I make clients and contractors job easier because I am a problem solver and provide solutions.

Get her done!

Challenging but rewarding

There were three buildings at this site, and they wanted to create an association and part of creating an association is each building would have to have its own utilities going to that building only at the time they were shared. So, for example, the sewer line was all connected to all three of these buildings. So we'd have to intercept the sewer line and have each building have its own separate sewer line and go directly from that building to the public street.

So the wet and dry utilities that were all, shared at the time, we had to go intercept those lines and then reroute those lines to that specific building and not have those buildings shared. At that point. Part of the requirements from the city was we had to widen one of the driveways, which took us off the, you know, our property and onto the public street mm-hmm. , which the public street has its own set of rules and requirements that are totally different from the requirements that we have at our site. And so it was the time year where we were getting rain, so we had to do some work in the street. We'd cut the asphalt, we'd go home at night, and it would rain, and we'd come home, come back to work the next morning, and our asphalt trench that we had cut out was full of water, so it delayed the project. We also had to plant three trees as part of this, association, we also had to install a streetlight. And so we had public works. so I was dealing with multiple agencies with multiple requirements, multiple inspectors, multiple insurance. We finally got it completed. but it was, it was a tough project.

History of Redline - In Out and On Budget

The name Red Line Construction my vision for that was, the train. I was really looking at the bullet train, which is a very fast train to gets you from one state or one, you know, area to another in a very fast timeframe. Eed line, construction was kind incubated from that vision. My dad was big on customer service so we want to have the customer or the client, to be inconvenience for the least amount of time is possible. The vision behind Red Line Construction was a speedy, completion of the project in and out, speed, satisfaction, budget, on time.

My, father was a construction contractor several years ago. My first construction job with my father was when I was 11 or 12 years old and I really fell in love with the trade. My first construction job when I was age 11 or 12 was for a plastering company that I worked for that, my dad had. So, we would go in, we'd do all the outside stucco on the house.

I also learned electrical. I have, installed what we call rough electrical.

So my background experiences, electrical work, stucco, experienced in drywall work and repair.

I just really wanted to take my dad's legacy on. So just a combination of the love of the work and, my father's vision that he had of a construction, contracting business was really the two driving forces that led me to, pursue my general construction license and my hope is to create a construction company that positively impacts communities to keep the Gilkey tradition going by passing the business down to my son.
